Artistic Birthday Painting Party Inspo

Whether you or someone you love is an artist or art enthusiast, throwing an art-themed birthday party is a great way to celebrate! That being said, it’s actually not easy to find art-specific decorations, snacks, or drinks for parties, which is where we come in! We’ve scoured Pinterest for the best art party ideas, so you don’t have to.

Speaking of which, you can see all of these ideas and more on our Artsy Birthday Party Pinterest board and the snack ideas at Party Snacks. Now let’s go!

CANDY

Delicious and pretty, these treats are surprisingly simple to prepare yourself!

You’ll need a round cake, frosting, food coloring, and sprinkles for this adorable paint palette cake! Simply cut the cake into a bean shape where one side is a little larger than the other, frost it with white, mix the “paint” colors of your choice with the frosting, pipe them down with a spatula and press the nuggets on the side. If you want to include paintbrushes on your cake, instead of making them, you can get real paintbrushes and put the frosting on them like paint; then, when you and your guests have finished your cake, you can clean them up and reuse them!

For these cute Candy Brushes, grab large brushes, zipper bags that match the width, double-sided tape, and candy in assorted colors! Sort your candies into similar colors, fill your candy bags until the amount in the bag covers the bristles of the paintbrush, then tape the bag to the metal section of the paintbrush.

Finally, you can see the whole process behind this stunning textured cake here on Pinterest! Your main supplies will be a cake base that you choose (it doesn’t have to be round like in the video here), buttercream frosting, food coloring, piping bags, and various tips for the icing. The best part about baking cakes like this is that mistakes can easily be erased and redone without looking out of place!

BITES

Pair complex flavors, like melon and prosciutto or brie and strawberries, to bring creativity to every aspect of your party, including your food!

My favorite way to organize snacks with art in mind is to prepare something striking, like this Tetris salad, accompanied by melons, cheese, herbs and a nice array of vegetables. I can guarantee it will leave your guests impressed!

BEVS

You’ll definitely want to try these stunning and delicious cocktails, inspired by famous works of art, for your adult guests!

If you don’t want alcohol at your party, you can easily replace the alcohol with a non-alcoholic option like alcohol-free champagne for “A Sweet Embrace” and try alcohol-free vodka and blueberry juice or syrup blue raspberry in “Dreamy”. Twilight”! Non-alcoholic options are common in liquor stores these days, but you can also get them online!

DECOR

This is where you can really go all out for your party: the decorations! These three ideas are also surprisingly simple to implement.

These spilling “paint” buckets are among the simplest options. All you need is a few strips of tulle in different colors, some metal buckets, and a strong adhesive like gorilla tape or hot glue!

Our second simplest decoration is splash balloons. You will only need two items, various acrylic paints and clear or solid balloons of your favorite shape! You can check out our Acrylic Basics page for a video tutorial on splatter painting. The most crucial part of splashing something like a balloon is making sure it is completely dry before turning your balloon over to splash the other side. Otherwise it might stain. Unlike painting on canvas, it is not recommended to rush the drying process, as this may cause your balloon to burst or cause an air leak. We don’t want that, so you’ll need to let your paint dry naturally, which shouldn’t take more than about 15 minutes with acrylic paint!

You’ll never guess what these giant colored pencils are made of: pool noodles! This Pinterest video shows the creator’s process from start to finish. Let’s say you want to spend less on this project than the original creator. In this case, you can also use pre-colored pool noodles and/or basic acrylic paint instead of spray paint!
